i think because there is no profit margin. these guys don't make alot out of it. this is more of a branding thing than anything else. the nettop, netbook market isn't big enough yet. it's growing, yes, but the taiwanese fellas still have to drive the awareness.

the atom platform has a lot of limitations from the manufacturing pov. eg, if u want to do an atom based desktop, you cant actually put more than a single dimm slot in it. was told "the" boss wouldn't be happy bout it. well, unless u are powerful enoug, and u have the ball to dare the big shot who supplies the chips..

So, question.. why spend so much effort on it when you can't really get alot out of it? get one workable netbook out , sell it and be happy with it. good enough. i believe is this the strategy the majority are doing.

No Bro actually I was refering to the article being discussed on this thread. Seems the Foxconn notebook being discussed doesn't offer a 6 cell battery only a 3 cell offering 3 hours max.

I agree on one workable netbook and good points as always man. I think that was my point on the link I posted for Unix above. That 3 hour 3 cell battery solution is not acceptable and even Chai agrees on that and he knows more about mobile Puters than I do.

Why produce a product that is not desirable to consumers in the first place?

I'll never buy or use a foxconn product even if someone paid me to do it.

All major brand have some what Foxconn inside. You may have tiny piece such as connectors or some even the whole MB but rebrand or just never open to see it. Foxconn has everything. You can't escape from Foxconn. I bet something in your PC sure is a Foxconn ..
