IMHO, the OEMs should already have a database of those who purchased the PCs during the offer period. There should be no need for anyone to have to go through the circus of furnishing printed/scanned copies of receipts before qualifying the free upgrade.

Yup I agree ....

@zy HP wants a scanned copy of the receipt/packing slip ... Now since it was an online purchase there was no receipt hardcopy sent. There was a packing slip but I had shipped the laptop to a friends house and he has forgotten to save it.

But the packing slip is just a copy of the online receipt so I am wondering whether I am fine attaching that

if its the exact same copy... print it out and scan it back in

They are intentionally making it difficult to qualify for the upgrade.
