In line with the release of Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, Microsoft is aiming to launch the new Windows Server 2008 R2 in the second half of 2009 with an RTM date to support that.

Let's take a look at the latest information we obtained regarding Windows Server 2008 R2. We will update this article as and when we receive further updates, so be sure to check back often!

btw, Adrian, Windows Server 2008 R2 is available only for x64 systems. there will NOT be a 32bit edition of Windows Server 2008 R2 at all.

the version number of Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit edition) is the same version as Windows 7 (64bit edition) - 6.1.7600.

    I agree on this one.

No idea about this, but I could install an R2 to find out.

Thanks! But I don't think there was a mention of a 32-bit version of Windows Server 2008 R2 in the article...
