Adrian, may I ask what ram/core settings you used to get a stable overclock?

Hello goodl,

I managed to overclock it to 243MHz core and 513MHz memory.

But eleo (http://forums.rojakpot.com/viewtopic.php?p=82667) managed to overclock his Go5200 to 265MHz core and 530MHz memory!

thanks for the tip Adrian, I'll let you know if mine's stable at those settings. It's cool that you discuss your atricles with your readership in the forums, I'll definitely put your site on my favourites, I only popped in thru the link from [H] cos I hadn't seen any reviews of my Lappy

Hello goodl!

No problem! And thanks for your feedback!

I hope you can overclock better than me!

My M30 cannot play 'Far Cry' having dowloaded the demo i can play for about 2 mins before it starts freezing up for about 8 secs then it carries on for 10 secs then freezes for another 8. I'm not overclocking and I'm worried I have a bust laptop. KOTOR exhibits this behaviour too.

Wow, it freezes like that?

I think you better take the laptop back to Toshiba for a look-see.

I decided the laptop wasn't for me and returned it, my Dell inspiron 8600 with onboard Radeon 9600 should be here in a week, a good bit more expensive but worth it I think

The Radeon 9600 should be much faster than the M30's Go5200.

Do let us know how the Inspiron 8600 fares against the M30!

Indeed I will, incidentally the problem I had was caused by RivaTuner not setting the core and ram speeds back to a non overclocked state . It's a shame that the fx 52000 in this notebook is such a poor performer because apart from that, I like everything else about it. It's light, looks great, has nice features and bright display and the battery lasts quite a while. The speakers in it are particularly good, best i've ever heard in a notebook, and i've heard quite a few. Take note nvidia, your gpu sucks!
