About the benchmarking, are you using UT2k3 full version? Will demo work, or does it have to be full?

Hello everyone!

I have just posted Revision 2.0 of the NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 GPU review. Sorry I couldn't come up with this update earlier. Was busy doing last minute mugging for my exams today!

Anyway, here is the list of updates :-

- Added 3DMark03 scores for the Rev. 52.16 driver.
- Added 3DMark03 scores for ATI Mobility Radeon and Intel Extreme Graphics 2.
- Added a note on the Go5200's clock speeds and memory size.

I will be working on the Go5200's performance when re-clocked to higher core and memory speeds. I will also test its performance with AGP sideband support enabled. Keep your eyes peeled for a look at the Go5200's true potential!

Hello Guys,

First time here, and what a good detailed review for M30

Anyway, I saw Toshiba's latest M30 model in Hong Kong (should be the M35 u refered). The one with 60GB HDD, 512MB DDR, and SCV (Super Clear View) LCD.
Link: http://www.chevalier-itech.com/toshi...G5DX&3SHGK.pdf

It looks really good and I was thinking of buying it. BUT after reading your review of GeForce FX Go5200 I begin to hestate.

Previously I thought FX 5200 was better than Radeon 9200. But since Toshiba underclocked it, it's performance now looks terrible in your review

So do you think M30/FX 5200 is good enough? or should I hunt for a Radeon 9200 Notebook instead?

BTW, cant wait to see your clocked FX 5200 review!!!

Hello eocicada,

I'm happy to say that I have just posted Maxxing Out The GeForce FX Go5200 guide. You can check it out here - http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle....rtno=76&pgno=0.

Incidentally, a notebook should not be selected merely based on its processor or GPU. There are many other functionality aspects to consider.

Default Aquamark Scores

I have serious doubts about the validaty of this review. Not because of the GPU itself, but becuase of the Aquamark scores in particular.

http://rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=76&pgno=6

Overall GFX Score
Normal 602
Sideband 617
Memory 617
Core 686
Complete 716

These numbers mean that the sideband and memory tweaks each represented 15 points on the aquamark GFX score, while the core tweak added 84 points. Well, thats fine except that (716-602) = (15+15+84). I have never seen any review were the result of individual tweaks so linearly equals that of all the tweaks together.

Can you guess what happened when he compared the average frame rates?

Average Frame Rate
Normal 5.77
Sideband 5.91
Memory 5.91
Core 6.54
Complete 6.82

(6.82-5.77)=(.14+.14+.77)

Ok well if Aquamark happened to be so accuarate that it could linearly translate each individual score point almost directly into fps then we would not need any other benchmarking software. I don't really think thats the case. Then again I would hate to think that the author simply got a little lazy and didnt feel the necessity of runnig indivual aquamark tests after each tweak. That couldn't be it, could it
