Exclamation I spotted a mistake!

In the nVidia section you have an entry labeled GeForce 3 Ti.
There has never been any such GPU, but a plain GeForce 3 that came last before the Ti-series (GF2 Ti, GF3 Ti200 and GF3 Ti500).

You're right, thanks Olle P

I will re-label it as GeForce3 in the next update.

Hey guys, just followed a link to this from elitebastards.com

I love the guide, however I think I may have a few errors to point out.

The ATi Rage PRO was availible in both AGP and PCI varients. (I know this because I own both). As well, there are more offerings that you are missing. Such as the RageIIC, RageIIC+DVD, and Rage Pro Turbo (However, the Turbo is just a Rage Pro Chipset, they renamed it because of a driver update)

Additionally, I have never seen or heard of a PCI Rage Fury MAXX. If such a beast exists, I truely would like to see it.

There were several variations of the Rage128 chipset. A budget Rage128VR, the standard Rage128GL, and the "high performance" Rage128 PRO. The main difference was clock speed, however the Rage128VR only had a 64bit memory interface.

The Radeon products (Radeon, RadeonLE, Radeon SDR, etc etc etc) are all R100. The ones I am talking about are listed as N/A on your list.

I noticed this posted before, but I didn't see if anybody replied. The nVidia Geforce4 series did not support DirectX 8.1. I know Tom's Hardware says it does, but it's just not the case. DX 8.1 support requires PS 1.4 support, and the GF4 series only suppports PS 1.3. I own an 8500 and I remember quite vividly the raging debates between nVidiots and fanATics.

The Voodoo Banshee was also availible in both AGP and PCI varients.

Wow, I didn't realize I was going to post so much. Sorry to have my first post be corrections, hopefully I can add this site to my regular rotation. As well, if I am wrong, I would really like to know.

Cheers!

My first 3D was an ATI Rage Pro LT, 2xAGP with the chips integrated on the mobo. (In a Compaq Presario 5800, IIRC.)

There are other possible mistakes in the list of nVidia stuff:
GeForce FX 5900 is listed at least thrice, as ZT, SE/XT and "plain". On top of that is Ultra.
- I know for a fact that the only difference between the plain version and SE/XT (and don't forget LE) is clock and memory speed (cost), which isn't counted for in the list. The GPUs are identical! Neither of the addon letter combinations are official nVidia designations but made up by the card producers.
- I suspect ZT, which I've never heard about, also fit nicely into this group.
- I don't know the Ultra version that well. Perhaps that's just an overclocked "plain" 5900 with faster memory?

If the comparison guide is supposed to be a GPU comparison, then there's no need to differentiate these 5900s. Otherwise you'd better list core and memory speeds as well.

I also suspect that the GPU "reuse" utilised for the 5900 series apply to other nVidia GPUs as well.

/Olle

Well, it's the same for 6800 GT and 6800 Ultra, or even 6800 if you include the broken pipelines.

You have missed Diamond Multimedia(http://www.diamondmm.com/) and some older Matrox cards as the original Matrox Millenium cards and the Mystique cards.

EDIT:

Take a look at this list:

The question is if it is necessary/useful to add the full range of PCI-gfx as well.
'Cause then we'd need to add NumberNine, Trident, CirrusLogic, Miro, Spea and so on and on and on .. better said a hell lot of work (taking probably years ^^).
Do ppl need this information nowadays?
Personally I dun think so.
