What holiday? LOL! We don't really celebrate Christmas. It's just another holiday.

It's great... but:

We recently had a discussion on the X3 forums. That game eats graphics cards for breakfast, so people are buying new cards. One thing that came up is that your performance values show texture shader thruput (Fillrate in MTexels/s) and Memory Bandwidth (in GB/s) and related features like the amount of memory on board and what sort of shader support is available... but an indicator for the pixel shader speed is missing.

Example:
GeForce FX5950 Ult. 3800 MTexels/s 256MB 30.40 GB/s
GeForce 6800 GS 5100 MTexels/s 256MB 32.00 GB/s

The expected difference would be about 25-50% increase. In truth it is about 300% faster! because the pixel shaders are much faster on the 6800 series than on the FX5950.

Is there a way to figure out the pixel shader thruput?

Thumbs down i don't get it

the fill rate of the X1600XT is only 2360 mtexels!!!

isnt that a bit low? how could X1600XT have a worse fill rate than a X700LE?

if its correct, than the X1600XT has slightly worse performance than a geforce 6600 standard!

i dont know what fill rate exactly means but yeh...

7600gt fill rate = 6720
6800ultra fill rate = 6400
7800gs fill rate = 6000

does that mean the 7600gt is slightly faster than a 6800 ultra... which is in turn faster than a 7800gs?

apparently there will be a 7600 gt agp version soon.
hoo da hell is goin to buy a 6800 ultra agp, let alone a NEW 7800 gs agp, given the latter is WORSE than a 7600gt??

is memory interface more important than fill rate for performance?
