This works for driver revision 1021 and 1024+. If the driver revision you are using is 1032+, then you must also patch some of the files ATI has placed to block overclocking. Once this is all done simply install the drivers from the same location as the .sys files you patched.
I follow you all the way up to "and then you must select the ati2mtgl.sys file in order to patch it."
Where is this file? I couldn't find it. Even did a full on search of my HDD with the "Show hidden files" option turned on and got nothing.

One more thing. When I choose "Open patch scripts" and choose the SoftGL folder, I have 3 options at the bottom. 1)FireGL Z1, 2)FireGL X1 or 3)FireGL X2. What are these designations?

Thanks for your help.
If you do not have the ati2mtgl.sys file, you have a driver revision that will not work. The one here http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/f...613101031.html should work correctly. The 3 options at the bottom of the Rivatuner patch script window are the selection of videocards that you can mod into. Z1 is a 9500pro, X1 is a 9700pro, and X2 is 9800pro if i remember correctly. Just select whatever card you will be modding into.

to answere marvels question...Im no expert, but i believe you will only see the diffrenvce in the viewport itself, not at rendering time. Fo rinstance if you have a seen with lets say, 100,000 polygons, it should run at more frames per second on your viewport than with a regular radeon card.It should run allot smoother. I believe rendering is more processor intensive.

We have just updated the guide.

Here are the updates!

- Added three pages of step-by-step instructions on the patching of FireGL drivers.
- Added a page on the removal of the PCI Device ID protection.
- Added two pages on the end results of the mod as well as performance comparisons.
- Clarified the BIOS flash option when booting up with an ATI PCI graphics card.

Dumb question. The final stage of patching says "it is important to choose the correct PCI DeviceID for your card."

Where do I find that info. for my card?

(Everything has worked like a charm thus far BTW)

Hello BRB,

So sorry about that. We should have included those steps.

I have just added them to the guide. Please take another look at the same page. It should now contain instructions on how to find the correct Device ID for your card.

If you don't see them, please refresh the page.

Hope that helps you some!

"Please make sure you select the Device ID of your pre-modded Radeon card! Not the FireGL card!"

Thanks. That gets me there, unfortunately by the time I got to this step in the guide, my card is already modded. Now what?

Hello BRB,

Flashing the BIOS won't change the Device ID. That is why you need to patch the files.

Just check the Device ID in your Display properties page and use that. I will edit the guide to make it clearer.

OK. Thanks again for the help.
I'm such a n00b.

One last thing. My PCI DeviceID shows as 4E4B. There was no option for a 4E4B or 4x4B. There was a 4x4A and a 4x48. How do I know if it took?

Hello BRB,

I think I better let Max_87 answer this.
