Default Radeon to FireGL mod !

Hi, i'm new here and was wondering if you guys could answer a few questions about this mod.

I know it will increase performance of 3d apps, but I do very little to no 3d CAD. I do some video editing and would like to know if this mod would have any positive impact on Video editing programs like premier, virtualdub, tmpgenc etc?

Thanks for the guide Max_87

Hello just_timmy,

Adobe Premiere is one of the applications certified for the FireGL cards. You can check the certification list here - www.ati.com/products/workstation/certified.html.

However, I have no idea if that means the FireGL will actually accelerate Premiere. But if it does, then this mod will do the same. Remember, this mod turns a Radeon into a FireGL card. Once modded, the card will do everything that a real FireGL card is capable of.

If there is anyone here who has a real or modded FireGL card and uses Adobe Premiere, please let us know if there is any performance improvement in Premiere and similar applications.

Thanks!

Hey guys im new here. I was looking into this mod because I am getting into Maya. After going over the mod and then over it a few more times after v2.0 was posted I came across this card: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...294&depa=0 . Considering it has DDRII I figure this card would be perfect for me, and not too hard to mod, the cooling seems to be good also for what is required.

My question is, should this card be easily compatible with one of the three ATI FireGL X2 256MB DDRII bios in the download section?

also, has anyone had a chance for any performance tests in any 3d aps like 3dmax or maya after this mod?

tnx - joe

Hello Joe,

Looks like you want to get the Sapphire Ultimate Radeon which comes with a Zalman heatpipe cooler.

If you are experienced with hardware, you might want to go for the regular Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro and buy the Zalman heatpipe cooler separately. It will save you money.

Well, it all depends on the memory chips that your card comes with. If you are not sure, you can always try flashing those BIOS images one by one until you find one that works. As long as you have a PCI graphics card handy, you can always reflash the Radeon if you face any problems.

Actually, there is a performance comparison in the guide. You can check it out here - http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle....05&pgno=15

Hope that helps you some!

Browsing for file atiimxgl.exe... selected 6.13.10.1031, 53248 bytes
WARNING: Certified patch script not found, using common patch script...
ERROR: Target sequence not found!
