Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | I have tried the pencil techinque, and it seems to not be working for me. I have read the default voltages and they are as follows: VPU= 1.57ish (kinda low), Memory= 2.7ish ( seems okay). My card has a visibly confirmed R360 and when modded to an XT, works fine on everything but Doom 3. My problem is that I want the little speckles to go away and thus my volt modding attempt. When I read the default voltage, I thought that there might be something wrong but it seems to work fine. I have tried to put enough graphite, excessive amounts on the posts of the chip and connect the circuit on the chip itself as described in your article. No matter how much (graphite) I put on these posts, the voltage does not waver from 1.57. The volt meter is a radio shack analogue volt meter set on DC 5V (I assume its direct current), and I am totally frustrated with the results. One thing that may be suspect is my power supply, but I cannot believe that it wouldn't work because of this, since my rig is stable. If you could throw some nuggets of wisdom my way, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jeff |

I will try this once again to make sure, but I believe that I had done that. One question though, are you talking where the pins protrude from the PCB or out of the chip itself? Thanks for your help. Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | Okay, retried the mod after blowing off the excess graphite placing alot of graphite along where the pin sticks out of the chip, still no change in voltage. My card is a 128 Mb 9800 Pro with an R360 and a 9800 pro PCB. I am beginning to think that it may be my PSU (an Enlight 420 with a near out of spec 5 rail, 4.75). The voltage reading is still at 1.57ish. Have no clue what I am doing wrong. Thanks Jeff |
