BERLIN, Germany – 10 September, 2014 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd unveiled the ultimate immersive experience with an expanded lineup of Curved TV and audio products that provide ‘Total Curved Solutions’ for consumers. The expanded lineup includes 17 Curved TVs in FHD, UHD and LED ranging in size from 48” to 105”; its revolutionary 105” Bendable UHD TV, and a new Curved Soundbar – solidifying Samsung’s role as a leader in the curved market trend.

“We’re at the helm of a new era in TV viewing - an era driven by the curve: a simple yet powerful design ethos that greatly enhances the viewing and overall sensory experience,” said HyunSuk Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “IFA 2014 marks an exciting time to share the power of the curve with the world to bring the Curved TV into the mainstream and highlight its impact on the household viewing experience and TV market as a whole.”

Providing Total Curved Solutions that Cater a Wider Range of Needs

At IFA 2014, Samsung will present the widest selection of Curved TV and audio products ever released to the European market, including 17 Curved TV models in UHD, FHD and LED, ranging in size from 48” to the world’s largest 105” Curved UHD TV – launched in the European market in July.

The 105” Curved UHD TV is the world’s largest Curved UHD TV, featuring a panoramic 21:9 aspect ratio, which allows consumers to enjoy an immersive cinematic experience at home. Boasting an 11 million pixel (5120X2160) screen resolution, it delivers five times the resolution of Full HD and adjusts any content to UHD resolution. Additionally, Peak Illuminator, Samsung’s proprietary picture quality technology, distinguishes subtle differences of brightness and highlights contrasts to expand the range of brightness on the screen for better details, in even the darkest screen images. The Samsung 105” Curved UHD TV features a powerful 160W built-in speaker, providing consumers an even greater immersive viewing experience while its Timeless Gallery design is a beautiful addition to any home interior.

Samsung also unveiled the world’s first and largest bendable television for the European market with its revolutionary Bendable UHD TV. Boasting a versatile and eye catching 105” UHD display and a 21:9 aspect ratio, the Samsung Bendable UHD TV seamlessly goes from flat to curved, allowing users to decide how they want to watch TV – on a flat or curved panel – for an optimized viewing experience. This newest creation from Samsung features a Timeless Gallery design and a curvature of 4200R when curved. It also offers UHD Dimming and UHD Upscaling for more detailed picture optimization, reduction of light diffusion and enhanced contrast for incredible picture quality.

Introducing Powerful Sound, Beyond the TV Experience

Extending the curved experience beyond TVs, Samsung announced the release of HW-H7500 and HW-H7501, the world’s first TV-matching Curved Soundbar that pair with Samsung’s Curved TVs. Its elegant curved design is reminiscent of a symphony concert hall, offering an 8.1 sound system with powerful surround sounds on each end.

Samsung also unveiled its newest Wireless Audio Multiroom, the M3. This new, highly affordable addition to the Samsung family of Wireless Audio Multiroom, the M3 offers two-way speaker functionality and simple control from users’ smart devices to easily bring multiple music sources together into one system.

In addition, Samsung announced a partnership with Spotify that gives users Spotify Connect, the ability to have their music follow them throughout their home. And it also allows playing more than two Samsung Wireless Audio Multirooms at once – for the first time for Spotify Connect.

Expanding the UHD Ecosystem with Content Protection Standards and Premium UHD Content

Samsung is committed to growing the UHD ecosystem, partnering with some of the biggest names in entertainment, such as Amazon, Netflix and major European content partners including maxdome, Wuaki.tv and CHILI; while major broadcasting services throughout Europe will offer select TV, movie and sports programs in incredible UHD resolution to customers of Samsung Curved UHD TVs.

This September, Samsung Curved UHD TVs will be able to support Netflix UHD streaming in additional European countries as Netflix further expands its service; enabling favorite titles like House of Cards Season-2 to be viewed in incredible UHD resolution. Amazon is working with major Hollywood studios and network partners to deliver hit movies and TV shows, along with its Amazon Studios original TV series, in Ultra HD picture quality this year.

Samsung has also been actively working with partners in the industry to develop a solution for secure UHD content distribution. By working with the Secure Content Storage Association (SCSA), whose founding members include SanDisk Corporation, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., and Western Digital to establish content storage security standards, Samsung will be able to provide Hollywood studios’ premium quality content to consumers via a download service.

Artistic Collaboration with World-Renowned Digital Artist, Miguel Chevalier

Lastly, visitors to the Samsung booth will have the opportunity to experience the power of the curve in a more artistic way with “The Origin of the Curve,” a digital art installation produced in collaboration with world-renowned digital artist, Miguel Chevalier. The installation showcases the beauty of Samsung’s Curved UHD TVs, as well as the company’s commitment to merging the worlds of art and technology.

“Origin of the Curve” demonstrates the natural affinity we all possess for curves in a beautiful, emotional and artistic way. The installation takes inspiration from the power and beauty of the curve and is composed of several overlapping arches utilizing the incredible design of the new Samsung Curved UHD TV. Brilliant colors and images are displayed in crisp UHD resolution and merge and divide in sometimes slow, sometimes rapid rhythms. As well, infrared sensors allow Samsung booth visitors to interact by creating visual fluctuations on its curved screens in response to touch and movement.
