Speaking at the event, Mohamad Rozaimy said, “We are happy to seal this collaboration today with U Mobile as it reflects the trust and confidence that the industry players have on us, in line with our aspiration of becoming the preferred partner in fulfilling end-to-end ICT and connectivity requirements. Such collaboration will help to avoid unnecessary duplication of network infrastructure and it is a strategic move by mobile operators to be more operationally efficient. We also see this partnership as a positive move towards delivering enhanced service experience to Malaysians nationwide when they access high-bandwidth digital content, high definition video streaming or run real-time applications via their mobile devices.”

TM as a neutral wholesale service provider is committed to supporting the growth of telecommunications industry as well as is working hard towards delivering an enhanced service experience to end customers. By leasing wholesale bandwidth services and leveraging on TM’s strength on its nationwide fibre coverage and resilient network platform, U Mobile will be able to gain quick access to fibre infrastructure to support its future network capacity demands, to deliver affordable and high-quality internet connectivity to more Malaysians.

“As a data centric telco we have introduced many market defining products that are aligned with the mobile Internet trends to our consumers in the past few years. We hold customer’s satisfaction close to our heart, and that needs to be supported by a robust network infrastructure. We will continue to invest in our network to ensure our customers enjoy the best user experience in the market. We are glad to partner with TM as their technologies are able to support our network capacity demand”, said Too Tian Jen during the signing ceremony.

Under this collaborative deal, TM will be providing fibre mobile backhaul connectivity via its TM Next-Gen Backhaul™ Services (NGBH) of up to 1Gbps per site that covers Central, Southern, Eastern and Northern regions of the country. TM NGBH™ is a fiberised point-to-point backhaul connectivity network that is specifically optimised to support 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) rollout in providing high speed Internet experience, excellent voice and video quality through its high bandwidth capacity and reliable low latency.

This collaboration will facilitate ramping up of U Mobile’s capacity, hence accelerating its 4G LTE rollout nationwide. This signifies TM’s strength in rolling out mobile backhaul in an effective, efficient manner ensuring resource efficiency, as U Mobile could focus on their core business while outsourcing the backhaul planning and deployment to TM.

The U Mobile and TM agreement is also in support of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)’s call for key industry players to work together to provide a robust backhaul network for LTE rollout. It is also in line with the Government’s resolution for greater industry alliance and at the same time promoting healthy competition among the players, as service providers will be focusing on delivering improved customer experience and better value offerings, which ultimately will benefit Malaysian consumers.

The collaboration with TM is a testament of U Mobile’s commitment to deliver superior customer user experience. Being a data centric telco, U Mobile emphasises on the network reliability, quality and performance. With TM’s extensive services coverage nationwide, end customers can expect faster access to rich multimedia experience anywhere, any time through their mobile devices.
