Not sure if I'm in the right place. All of a sudden the
America Megatrends logo appears when I turn on
    the computer.
I have to hit f1 to continue.
Am I having a problem with the motherboard?
Is that a message telling me something is wrong?
This computer was built by my son about 6 yrs.
    ago. I have Vista.
    Thanks

There should be a reason why (usually white text) its asking you to press F1...

Yeah, there should be an error message. Maybe the CMOS battery is dead.

Most likely the CMOS battery is dead and the computer keeps losing its BIOS settings, and returning to default.

You should look into replacing the CMOS battery. It's user-replaceable.

Thanks for your input. I will tell my son to check the CMOS battery.
    Great group here!
