    If you can afford go for the i7 it has the edge , remember prices will drop though....its your call

    I think I might skip i7 or maybe wait a long time until the extreme is ~$300 :p

    The Extreme Edition CPUs are never cheap. It's definitely more cost-effective to get the non-EE versions.

    Well the prices here in Australia have dropped about $60 {i7 920}AUD, so here is hoping they drop some more.....

    That cheap???? The official price for the i7-920 is USD 284.

    The Core i7-940 is officially priced at USD 562 while the i7-965 EE is going at a really hefty USD 999. All in quantities of 1000 units.

    In malaysia exchange rate againts US are going up so it would be more expensive :(

    Eventhough the processors are made in Malaysia :(

    Hehe.. They are not actually made here. We do not have a fab here. They just package some of the CPUs here.

    OMG.. i saw the i7 in action yesterday at pc fair.. 8 logical processor? waaa.. :faint: running 6 HD movies simultaneously without any lag.. somemore the task manager show only 33% of processing load.. demo by intel malaysia..
    they selling this setup for rm 3888 with a limited choice of casing although i prefer a built from ground up:

    Quad Core Intel Core i7 Processor 920
    (2.66GHz | 4.8GT/s QPI | 8Mb L3 Cache)
    2Gb (1 x 2Gb) DDR3 Memory
    DVD RW <--- should give blu ray :p
    ATI Radeon HD4650 512Mb DDR3
    Onboard Intel High Definition
    650W SevenTeam EPS 12V

    time to shop.. :p

    Yeah I didn't even bother going there.

    Why do you need to watch 6 HD movies at a time is beyond me...

    its just to demo how powerful the processor are.. not to ask for u to watch 6 HD movies at a time.. :lol: hmm.. bout the codec i didn't ask coz to many ppl squeezing to watch 6 HD movies.. :lol:

    lol, seriously..who the heck will watch 5 hd movies 1 shot?even if it's a series or something, you get like 5 different output of sounds too..ooh, not to mention, codec is important also like Max mention (meh, such a detail freak :p)maybe i should try later with my rig XD...

    It shows that an average PC user will not require that much processing power.

    I can't really think of a software that will fully utilise i7.
