Does the 9800 GTX+ have a Quadro Equivalent?

I am buying a card for a friend's build who runs autocad--I want to mod this for that purpose as per this article:

    techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=539&pgno=1

I checked the equivalents in the table and the closest seems to be FX 3700. Is that correct?

If not, is there a similar priced card ($99 at Newegg) that has a corresponding price that can be modded?

Seems like the 9800 GT is a much closer fit to the FX 3700--only differences are the Core speed (FX is 1.25 vs. 9800 at 1.5), the Texture fill rate (28,000 v. 33,600), the Memory speed (800 v 900) and the Memory Bandwith (51.2 vs. 57.8). I am assuming that won't make any difference.

Is this doable as a mod to an FX 3700?

Should not make any difference. It will just run a little slower, that's all.

But you can't modify this card, can you? Also, why is the 8800 more expensive? I see prices in the $200 for them on the Internet but the 9800 is cheaper?

No, I don't think you can mod that card. It's based on the G92 GPU.

Why is it more expensive? Because it's faster than the 9800 GT?
