I just use MAC address filtering and don't broadcast the SSID. I know it's not uber-secure, but I'll only be on wireless for another couple of weeks anyway.
:) Has anyone ever tried this before? Upside-Down-Ternet :haha:

    No problem

Remember to check your router's revision before flashing it :) There are a few revisions AFAIK.

    Yeah, from D-Link's site there's rev A, B, C, D etc. I'm C.
I flashed it today and things are working fine. Thank goodness :thumb:

  9. That's very generous of you. However, in certain countries if someone uses your unsecured network to do something malicious, you may be held liable too. At least that's what I heard.

Not always though. I read somewhere that a man in the US was accused of downloading child porn, he said that it wasn't him because he had an unsecured network and it could have been anyone.

Really??? I'm not sure about the laws here but I don't think there's anything against sharing an open network. I don't do it all that often though.

I'm not so much worried about the loss of bandwidth. I don't use all that much bandwidth. I'm more worried about people hacking into my local network, than using some of my bandwidth.

    Not for D-Link routers

But even with brute force attack, it will take a very long time...
