Q2: Which utility did you download? Windows or DOS version? What Hard Disk did you have?

If you just want to get rid of a virus.. and basically reinstall everything, it is very simple.

    1. Boot up using the Windows 7 boot disc.
    2. Use it to delete all partitions.
    3. Recreate your partitions and format them. A quick format will do, but if you got nothing better to do, you can opt for the slower full format.
    4. Install Windows 7 after that.. and then all your apps.
    5. Make sure you install a decent antivirus software like AVG!

Alternatively, if you have a desktop handy...

    1. Remove the HDD from your laptop
    2. Plug the HDD into your desktop as a secondary drive (NOT as a boot drive!)
    3. Boot up the desktop and log into Windows
    4. Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management.
    5. Look for your mobile HDD in there.
    6. Delete and recreate all partitions and format them.
    7. Again, a quick format is all you need but if you are really paranoid, do a full format.
    8. Once down, shut down the desktop and take out the mobile HDD
    9. Now you can install the mobile HDD into your laptop and install Windows!
