Heard that it's another one of those Intel's "Black Edition"! :D

Hope it's cheap too, and I want to see how far it could go! :D

The nearest ones with unlocked multis are usually Extreme editions, which are very expensive.

And now, strangely they release a unlocked multi version of Pentium - which is supposed to be the budget range anyway. :thumb:

you're right, usually those extreme ed are super overpriced & affordable only when they are outdated

can we say they are doing so as to counter amd black edition's dominance?

Wow.. That would be a really neat processor to have! Seems kinda counterproductive (for Intel) to unlock a low-end Pentium Dual-Core, but who cares? It is unlocked! :thumb:

I noticed the CPU prices haven't changed at all since early this year. I think it's a really bad time to buy now.

There's little impetus to upgrade since even a Core 2 Duo is fast enough to handle virtually everything thrown at it.

Unlocked processors are only useful for overclockers (hobbyists). The unlock status is of no interest to the home / office user, so Intel is obviously targeting overclockers on a budget with this processor.

Even the floating point stuff we do at work is no match for the current dual cores. We have all but gotten away from the Cray monsters of yesterday.
