umm..need help..i have a ftec 8250 laptop running a 1.73ghz intel which uses a 512 ddr 333mhz memory... i believe the laptop can run on DDR2 chipset... i plan to upgrade to a 1 piece 1GB memory... -was wondering whether i should stick to DDR 333 or go for the DDR2 533Mhz? -wats the price for 333Mhz 1GB memory 1 piece? -wats the price for 533Mhz 1 GB memory 1 piece?
It would help to know if you're in malaysia or some other place. By using Ftec, I take it you're from Malaysia?
hey, memory & chipset are different things... even if ur chipset n processor supports DDR2, the memory module slots DOES NOT DDR is technically & physically different from DDR2...
yea malaysian... oh..yea-ho....the slots are different.....i know for desktop they are different...but laptop?? means i gotta check the manual la??
yorker's referring to the notebook he won in this contest - http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=280&pgno=1 Here are the specifications of the FTEC W2 8260 notebook : • Intel Pentium M Processor 740 (1.7GHz, 533MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache) • Intel 915GM Chipset • A-Data 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM • Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (up to 128MB RAM) • 12.1” WXGA FTF Wide Screen Display • Seagate 40GB Hard Drive • Intel Pro/Wireless 2915 ABG Network Connection 802.11b/g • FTEC 8260B/G Internal Combo Drive • 3 x USB 2.0/Firewire/PCMCIA/VGA-Out/Card Reader • 56K Modem & 10/100 LAN Port • FTEC 8260B/G Battery – 4 cell • Approx. Weight 1.90kg It should be using a single piece of 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM but it's possible that FTEC may also use two pieces of 256MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM. If there's a spare slot, then just buy another piece of 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM SODIMM module to upgrade the notebook to 1GB.
Sometimes the slots are under the left side of the touchpad. Then you'll have to dig your keyboard, etc out. I was looking into my laptop, hoping there's 2 more slots on the mobo (there are 2 behind the mobo). When I unscrewed all parts... found there's none. Then screw back lo... and after I'm done, I found I have one extra screw.
That's why I hate taking out the screws of a notebook. I heard from Dell engineers that there's one particular notebook, 40+ screws!!!
Luckily mine 20-30 only. But too bad, 2 x 256MB. And it sucked to find that only 2 slots available. Well, I think yorker will be stuck with DDR. Get 1GB of DDR then.. RM425... Even the 8260 is still using DDR... http://www.ftec.com.my/products_notebook_8260.asp
dell XPS laptop? i seen reviews of some FX-60 DTR with 5 fans.. 3 screws per fan = 15 screws already (",)
walau..so much talk...sori for l8 reply...college internet runs at 625 bytes only ... neway...D-Boss noted that the 1.7Ghz runs on 533...but my memory runs on 333mhz...so means?? 1)get the ddr or ddr 2? i bet they use 2 piece 256mb...these ppl... 2)if i do it myself..will d warranty void? my laptop is d type where u have to dig the keyboard to access it...and i have a reputation to destroy stuffs
mind to remind u, some brand (ie fujitsu do use proprietry RAM). so u need to ask around, or test d RAM on the spot before buying it.
