chill chill hahhah...kkk...got it in my head already... how to differentiate the ddr1 and ddr2 slots??
like zy had mentioned, it just the slight shifting of the notch.. I don't think it matters anyway.. The point is that: they are not compatible
Well, first of all, you gotta find out if changing the RAM yourself voids the warrantee or not (I think it will) before you go out and buy yourself one. But if you are prone to destroy stuffs, get someone who's not to install it for you (but first of all again, make sure about the warrantee thing first).
Actually, I was referring to the fact that his notebook may come with a single 512MB SO-DIMM instead of two 256MB SO-DIMMs. If so, then he will have a spare slot.
Don't confuse the FSB (Front Side Bus) with the memory bus. Your processor FSB runs at 533MHz but your memory bus runs at only 333MHz. So, you need to upgrade using 333MHz DDR SO-DIMMs. Don't confuse DDR with DDR2. Your notebook cannot support DDR2, so don't waste your time trying to figure out if you can fit a DDR2 module into it. It won't.
ic... get what u mean... mfgs are cheapo... they will charge u a huge premium if u wanna get 1x512 instead of 2x256 =( (an example will be Dell
