Restoring Windows Vista Full Backup to Windows 7

    Windows strikes again!

I have an older laptop, and before I knew any better I made a full backup with the Windows tool in Vista. I've upgraded to Windows 7 Professional, and learned MUCH more along the way but am still unable to restore this backup. It has all of my photos, music, etc. on it... I can drill down into the backup and see those files, but it is a LONG and painful process to do so. There are over 400 folders, each with bits and pieces of everything on them.

Any ideas on how to restore this backup? Microsoft offers a solution that does not work in the slightest, and no response from technical support over there.

    Thanks!

I don't use Windows Backup, but if you do need to restore your data in Windows 7, go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Backup and Restore.
