If you are looking for a quiet 600W power supply with an efficiency of 84%, a power factor of 99% and a modular cable system, look no further! The new Zalman ZM600-HP 600W power supply has all that, as well as a heatpipe cooler!

I believe you made a mistake in calculating the total amps on the +12V rails. Simply adding the 16A for each of the four +12V rails overstates the total amps at 64A. The label on the PSU says total watts from the four +12V rails is 504W. Dividing 504W by 12V equals 42A. This is about average for good 550W-600W PSU's but 42A is a long, long way from 64A. http://forums.techarp.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Yep, reading some basic electrical engineering first should be on things to do checklist of PSU review.

    Reality is entirely opposite.
"Separate" rails work only when loads are certain sized and distributed approriately, with varying loads and uneven distribution of them separate rails just easily cause tripping of PSU much before full 12V load.
Especially with coming DX10 card's separate rails are propably going to be very near causing problems with Crossfire/SLI configurations.

Specified ripple figures of PSU are much over those stated in ATX specification. (possible source for unstability, especially with high loads+overclocking)

Also dense fins of that heatpipe cooler are going to cause lot of airflow resistance so it isn't entirely just good thing and active PFC isn't anything new, in fact PFC has been mandatory for long time in Europe and active PFC has been used for many years by every half decent PSU.

We are aware of Active PFC isn't new. Even the 300W PSUs we reviewed a few years back were Active PFC.

Thanks for taking your time in letting us know about it.

It was a mistake on our part for overlooking such a matter and we have now corrected it.

    We appreciate your effort. :D

BTW, Have you checked inside PSU?

Just interested if it's made by Fortron (FSP name in PCB) like previous Zalman PSUs.
At least what I've seen internal layout hints much towards FSP.

    EsaT,

Not yet. That would most likely be covered when the full-review is out, that is, when testing is done with the PSU.

Ayam finished with performance testing, it isn't that bad really, based off a Fortron and all. I guess you can read about it once it's posted.

Anyone wanna gimme their spare Oscilloscope? :p
