M'kay, so lets say one of ur hard drives that is setup in Raid 0 (yes i know, but i like the speed). And lets say that one drive decided to have an Epic Fail (sounded like motor imploded), and also lets say that u have a pretty old style case where the hard drive is located just slightly above ur new 8800GT (and pretty long for the case its in). Now lets say u remove said hard drive and while doing so you take it out on a slight angle and accidentally bump ur new video card, no biggie right? Well lets say that u hear some thing go "tink" at the bottom of the case at the same time. And lets say upon further inspection u find, well lets play find Waldo shall we: http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj173/modfaction/DSC_1907.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj173/modfaction/DSC_1906.jpg surgery tool http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj173/modfaction/DSC_1911.jpg will post the repaired pics later. Note: segate has some pretty decent warranty, sent the drive out on Thursday, received it back by ups on monday. ok, its been a while so here it is as you can see i'm still working out some kinks in my soldering skillz, also note the extra solder on the ends, they should definitely not fall off again. Just make shure if ur doing this to make sure that u have a very fine tip on your soldering iron, also be careful not to apply to much heat as it will lift the contact pad under it. and yes it works, like nothing ever happened.
Nasty on the soldering I can solder SMD with a standard pencil but been soldering since the 80's .. as long as it works
Hey i wouldn't be too upset about my solder skills if i could work with surface mounts. And it works too, well done!
It also happens on my card ( I think ) because when i put the video card while the RAM locks are open or unlock. But i dont if it really happen. So what i did is just to solder the ends. You can see it on the Picture. But still it works
