What are the chances of having such people around your neighbourhood lol

Well, i'm using restricted MAC access and WPA, safe enough to last for few more years.

I use MAC address restriction

MAC adresses can easily be spoofed.

    Good thing there's AES... :o

Nah, not your neighbours, but some hackers driving around to have some fun :o

That's only if they know my MAC address.

They can sniff your network for your MAC adress.

I know that, FYI I don't use wireless myself. My wireless is always disabled unless my friends come to my place with their laptop. MAC address restriction is good enough.

    Wired FTW

Should have told me you didn't use wireless earlier :)

but, but... wireless is more convenient :(

    LOL, this one confirm foolproof.

Reminds me of Linksys WRT54G with DDWRT firmware, you can configure the easy setup button to be wifi toggle button, very convenient.

Oh well, even if they managed to get into my network, I don't have anything to share, and they need to take their time to break through my router gateway password (is that even breakable?)

My desktop is just one meter from the router so...

Hmmm I'll have to check out AES. I wonder if my D-Link DI524 supports that?

If it doesn't, try look for a firmware update for your DI-524. There should be an update that enables WPA2 AES on DI-524.

Hmm.. I don't think my router supports AES. I'm still using WEP though. But sometimes I just leave my network open for neighbours and friends to use.
