I did some more googling and I can finally confirm that rev1.0 Abit IP35 Pro does not support E8600. It's not supposed to work, so I really have no idea why it worked for the first 3 days

You mean the hardware itself? Funny, doesn't it already support the 45nm Intel processors?

All the E0 processors are not supported, which are the new E8400/E8500/E8600. My E8400 is C0.

    Ouch :wall:

I guess "Test" means "not supported"

I think it requires BIOS upgrade.

max, how bout the bios link i gave you? did it work?

No it didn't. It's basically the same BIOS with some hidden BIOS options unlocked, doesn't address the E0 incompatibility problems.

Crap, I wonder why... I wonder what's different in E0.

Just checked Intel's doc. The E0 stepping fixed a few (8) bugs in the C0 and M0 steppings but also introduced 13 new bugs (AW61 through AW73). LOL! :haha:

Hmm.. For most of these bugs, Intel suggests a BIOS workaround would be able to fix the problem, instead of a new stepping.

    Damn...

Who would have thought that a P35 based mainboard can't support E8600. Even a P965 supports it just fine :wall:

I don't think my IP35 Pro ever get a BIOS update now that Abit has got out of mainboard business :(

    It's a BIOS issue IMO.

It is... I just don't expect IP35 to not support it without a BIOS update  After all it's supposed to be "newer".

Maybe it's a bug specific to the E0 stepping and the P35 chipset.

Max already tested on another P35, it's definitely BIOS issue. Whether Abit is going to fix it, it's a different story. :(

So, it works on another P35?

Yup, tested on the P5K EPU, with outdated BIOS

LOL!! This is really odd, man...

I guess Abit will never fix this... it's been months since this problem appeared and they have not issued any BIOS updates to fix this :(

    I really miss my IP35 Pro, but I really don't have a choice :(

So yeah, I'm using an ASUS mainboard now. Playing with some overclocking at the moment. Stress testing in progress.
