I still haven't been able to figure it out yet. It would simplify cleaning the heatsink for sure! Any tips welcomed for removing the fan without need of removing the heatsink from the motherboard! My stock cooler looks like this: Source: Intel Stock Core 2 Duo E4xxx Radial Curved Bifurcated Fin Heatsink - FrostyTech.com
hmm, tried using a small painting brush and a small vacumm cleaner? thats what i used to do with my stock heatsink ...
brute force its held on by tabs at the side right? maybe you can remove it that way. usually i would use compressed air to clean the heatsink
quite hard to remove the fan without removing the heat sink.. the clip holding the fan is very hard.. my hand hurts..
You can't miss with compressed air. Works great and the whole cleaning operation takes only a few minutes without too much trouble!
do not use vacummn cleaner I read before it will spoil the pc by releasing static charges or something like that. which the hardware is very prone to. that why when u buy hardware , they are seal in a anti static plastic. correct me if i am wrong
I don't think that is true, because a vacuum cleaner sucks air and dust from a surface. I don't see how it can deposit static on the cooler. To be safe though, you can remove the cooler before using the vacuum cleaner on it. Personally, I prefer to wash the heatsink and fan... and then dry them in the sun.
well now i use somthing smarter ehehhehe 1. i remove cooler 2. than remove the fan 3. and last thing is i gave cooler to my wife to wash it hahahahha much easyer solution
