    Yup :(

I miss tmnut stimx. Unlimited access FTW! I don't care if it's throttled during daytime and slows down bittorent :haha:

Phone line should be coming in about one week and a half according to Telstra, if all goes well...

FYI, TMnut now offers 4 Mbps for RM 160 (US$44) plus free phone line rental. But I have no idea if the 4 Mbps connection is for real, or just to the junction box. :haha: :haha:

    It's probably the latter :haha:

Just received a message from Telstra:

They should use WiMAX for their backbones in Aussieland if distance is the problem.

Phone line was just activated minutes ago! Applied for an ADSL2+ connection straight away :haha:

If all goes well, it will take about 7 to 10 working days before I can start leeching again

EDIT: DAMN! Service number not on ISP's database yet! !@^#^!#%(

7-10 working days is just quick! One week of study and coffee will just kill a lot of time! :haha:

At least, it's better than 20-30 days, which in my Streamyx application case, which is uh... back in 2005! :faint:

    What's the difference? Speed?

Less speed and download quota at the same price. ADSL1 is actually more expensive than ADSL2+ here  They said my phone line is connected to pair gain system so no ADSL2+.

I applied for ADSL last Friday, now waiting for them to activate. Hopefully by the end of this week.

Even at max operating directionality and power, WIMAX can't touch the distances between Aussie cities lol. Here's a list of distances.

Toowoomba to Gold Coast (where i work), 200 KM
    Brisbane to Sydney, 1200 KM
    Brisbane to Cairns, 1600 KM
    Sydney to Melbourne, 1000 KM
    Sydney to Canberra, 300 KM
    Melbourne to Adelaide, 750 KM

    and so on.

Geological dispersion is serious bizness here. I also hit a ****ton of animals on my long drive from Toowoomba to Sydney lol.

WiMAX would work for cities and their metropolitan areas I guess (they are still trying to do that slowly here - though some cities like Seattle already have free WiFi zones) though not so much city to city.
