Looks like things are on schedule. I believe the final release date will depend on how this beta test works out.

indeed SP1 has gone gold, however, there are several sources out there reporting that SP1 has been released to OEMs, which is NOT true!. if you read this Softpedia article: Windows 7 SP1 RTM, Now You See It, Now You Don't - Softpedia and the comment (in english) from this MS Technet Russian blog: http://blogs.technet.com/b/vm/archive/2011/01/14/service-pack-1-windows-7-windows-server-2008-r2.aspx Also, Win7 SP1 has NOT yet been released to MSDN subscribers either as I've checked the MSDN/Technet sites recently. we all have to wait for the official SP1 downloads from MS as the final build of SP1 has already been "leaked" on the web. Microsoft may have a slightly different schedule on how they will distribute Win7 SP1 than with Vista and XP Service Packs, so I question the proposed "Feb. 18, 2011" date in your article, which is a Friday. MS may release SP1 on a Tuesday rather than a Friday.
Yes, Service Pack 1 has apparently not been "released" yet but has gone gold. Oh, that's not a confirmed date. But we think it's very likely to be the week of Feb. 14-18 and we have just updated the article with that.

well Adrian check out this latest Softpedia article on the release date of Win7 SP1/Win2008 R2 SP1: Windows 7 SP1 RTM to Be Released on February 22, TechNet/MSDN Availability on February 16 – Reportedly - Softpedia general availability (RTW) of SP1 - February 22 (Tuesday) SP1 released to MSDN subscribers - week of February 15 I think that date sounds very reasonable for us end users.
Definitely very possible. I contacted Microsoft and they confirmed that while the SP1 image was gold, it was not released to OEMs at the time. So there appears to be some minor delay in the schedule.

UPDATE: It appears that Microsoft is right on schedule with SP1. Today is Wednesday February 16 and Microsoft has posted DVD ISO images of Win7 SP1 on the MSDN/Technet Subscription downloads pages as I've just checked this Wednesday afternoon PST [pacific standard time] (despite of me recovering from a cold & fever). More SP1 downloads for MSDN & Technet subscribers should be coming tomorrow. But for us end users, wait until Tue. Feb. 22 for the general availability of SP1 from Microsoft.
Good to see it's finally out. Still using Vista as my main OS, so now that the Windows 7 service pack is finally out lets see if Microsoft turns to Vista SP3.
Win7 SP1 RTW'ed (Feb. 22 - Pacific Standard Time) at Microsoft Download Center (and on Microsoft Update/Windows Update): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c3202ce6-4056-4059-8a1b-3a9b77cdfdda @ET3D: So far, Microsoft has not yet made any definite plans to release a Vista SP3. We'll have to wait if they'll make beta/RC releases on that one before a final edition of SP3 gets produced.
