Hi guys. I'm planning to buy a new 20" monitor (still using CRT ATM ) but I'm wondering if my old computer can support its high resolution. My GPU is ATI Radeon X600 which is a very old card. Can i use 20" monitor with it? Thanks for the help.
That's under 120$? I don't think you'll get a 20" lcd, new, at that price. But you can get a 19" like ViewSonic VA1931WA - LED backlit (1366x768) or Acer V193WEJ (1440x900) or Hanns·G HW-191APB (1440x900).
can i set it to highest resolution possible without problem then? Price shouldn't be a problem. I'm more worried whether its feasible for my current pc's spec.
If you are using 20", highest resolution is 1600x1200 or 1680x1050. That's pretty normal, even VGA cable can handle it easily.
Yup, the monitor won't have a problem handling it. Neither will your graphics card. But I'm not sure if you can get a new 20" LCD monitor below RM 400... Even the cheap TN panel at Dell is RM 429 (US$ 140)
That's reassuring. About the price, i check the price list from lowyat.net and most of the 20" are around RM400. The attachment is from the price list.
Yeah, I would rather buy new. Don't forget it also buys you warranty. I've already exchanged my Dell monitors 3 times so far.
I think it's a gimmick. If you buy 5 years warranty, it will never break down. I have 2 Dell monitors here and they are perfect! Even after 5 years! No excuse to change monitor!
a virgin is always much better dell u2311h is good value for money, 23inch ,ips panel but too bad it cost around rm600 plus
Actually, I had to change mine three times so far... Twice over malfunctioning USB ports, once for a dead power button (the panel wouldn't turn on).
