I think the oldest thing I have running is my old BenQ JoyBook 7000 notebook that I bought together with Ken. It's gone through a few HDD replacements... but it's still running!
My Core 2 Duo E7200 (8 years old!) Some hard disks dated from 2007 onwards. HP-Compaq laptop with a C2D processor (7 years old!) Single speed CD-ROM (22 years old!)
Can't remember what's my oldest PC component, those will be back home in parent's home. Currently with me, my oldest laptop is a Dell XPS M1210 with Core 2 Duo T7200. This thing never dies, I tried to kill it (not with water). Went thought 3 hard disk upgrades (not failure)
On the other hand, I have had DVD writers fail on me even though I only used them like 2-3 times A YEAR!
These things often fail like it or not. My first CDRW drive was a Benq bought in late 2002, not used much, and then got broken down. The mechanical failures for these things are too frequent!
