Hon pls tell us when this started happening and how it was like right before it. She's also just reformatted her pc too.. So its weird...
See if this helps if its not a software issue i think its a hardware issue http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000365.htm
First things first: 1. Did this problem suddenly pop out one day you're using the comp? Did you install new hardware or altered anything in your comp lately? 2. Try borrowing another RAM stick and place it into the comp. Or, try removing one first, then leave it to the bare minimum of RAM. For example, take out all the RAM sticks (let's say you have three of them). Then place only ONE into it and see whether WinXP is running. If not, take it out and take another one and put it. Do that until the problem goes away. If one of 'em is working, then maybe it's the faulty RAM stick that you've removed. Get a Memtest to do the memory scan if you can. 3. If all else fails, open up the case and check for swollen capacitors on the m/b. If you see the heads concave, then maybe it's the problem. Or maybe bulging ones. I hope that helps. I have this similiar problem once, it's installing XP section that comes out the BSOD. First thing - could be the RAM sticks. I tried yanking out my 64MB SDRAM from my old comp which cannot install XP at all and it could be installed after that. Wao.
9 out of 10 times this problem is caused by RAM in my experience.. Hmmm. So, let's check with MemTest and see
Yeah, thats the problem I had with both of my ballistix... I'd BSOD when I installed windows and everything.
mayeb she accidentally o/c j/k .. yeapz.. sounds like RAM .. but do check your IDE cables to makessure they are in place too
thanks everyone this prob occur out of the blue one day,no warnings whatsoever. i have done the ram thingy, will do the memtest shortly...thanks very much!!!
thanks dashky... ran the memtest for 10 hrs..but no sign of the red bars....so..what should be next???
Why don't you take the RAM in your comp and test it in another computer? Or maybe check for swollen capacitors in the m/b. I have this same problem before, but after replacing 'em, they're back to normal...
