i would take this 3dcard over those.

    This ram over those.

I would recommend this PSU over that one (good PSUs are a must for any system)

I hope you realize that you need watercooling components to use that heatsink. Don't go for refurbed harddrives.

    Suggestions.

Thats nice but I want to buy from tigerdirect and I don't need to have the best of everything. As long as it will run good because right now I am on a P4 2.0GHz with 256mb of RAM and an nvidia mx440 with 64mb of memory and I have a 40gb hard drive.

And i changed the cooling to this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1389577&CatId=0

And is this good for a hard drive? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1477509&sku=THD-1600M3

What a rip off! For the Thermaltake 'heat exchanger', I could almost get the best waterblock money can buy!

TBH, your choices of components are really appalling, especially when I could get a better card at much cheaper price, and put the RAM into the RIGHT place instead of a rather slow 6600!

A decent 400W is more than enough for your system. That 550W at that price is scaring me! :faint:

Haha, thats why I came here. You guys are the experts. So I want to use tigerdirect because they have the mobo-cpu bundles and i have a gift card there. If you guys could point me in the right direction I am looking to spend under 1000 bucks. I want an AMD processor and at least 2gb of ram and at least 256mb nvidia card.

The amount of video card memory is not critical. I would get a 128MB 6600GT as PsY suggested, or you can ditch the Thermaltake cooling (use the stock cooler - it's good enough) and get a 6800GS.

Edit: Just happened to come across this review of Albatron's 512MB 6600: http://www.rbmods.com/Articles/Albatron/6600_512/1.php
You can see from the tests that the 6600GT is way ahead. ;)

 You're still going after cards simply because they have more memory. Read the article that I linked in my previous post - it does not make a difference.

I'm still very disappointed many people out there are still buying based on memory size... :faint: They think more memory = faster. I always hear conversations like this in the 'background'.

No wonder manufacturers are taking advantage of consumer's ignorance, no offense.

Thanks psychotik, i didn't see that card. I could have sworn i saw the 7800 costs 500 bucks. And if I get more money after that i will get another one and use sli, but what wattage is a good PSU if I was to do SLI?

Well than what should I look for in a card if not memory

Get another powersupply. The one that you have in your post is junk tbh. Get one from Enermax, Antec, sparkle, fotron, or ocz. Good powersupplies go a long way. Get one with a 20+4 ATX powerconnector.

The processors that you just linked is socket 939 processors but the cpu and mobo that u posted in your first post is socket 754. Which one are u gonna use?

Ya, I was looking and found a geforce 7800 with a mobo for like 350 bucks and it had 4 ram slots instead of 3 and it was socket 939. I don't know what to do. Can you guys suggest parts for each category that are good ones, I seem to go for the bad ones. I am trying to keep it uner 1000

It's quite decent actually, I know a couple of people who are using it, and Anandtech gave it a good review: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2506
(Jetway is the original manufacturer [OEM])

Almost all S939 motherboards will have 4 RAM slots...

CPU: Get the 3500+, you won't really use the extra 'advantages' of an Opteron :p

Actually 2gb of ram is only like 120 bucks.

And speaking of ram, I am getting 512mb of ram for this PC just to hold me over so I don't kill myself. How do I know what my mobo is compatible with. I have pc2100 right now but I want to know if it supports pc3200. Anyone know how I can find out.
