As the title states I was replacing the heat sink on my HTPC 9600xt with the arctic cooling one. Anyway I had to pull all the individual heat sinks off the ram, and the whole ram module cam off I thought well thats fcuked, but tried plugging it in. well it booted up and the screen was pretty naffed with lots of square lines and stuff and I couldnt see the mouse but when I went into WMCE it was clear as a bell so was the tv video and dvd play back, go figure. at the moment I have tryed gluing the module back on (for now ( ya never know if ya dont give it ago), and Ill see what happens. __ well gluing the ram on has given me my mouse curser back and hasnt caused any mor problems. so now I just need to score another 9600pro/gt to fit my arctic cooler ati 2. pics to come
glued on ram poor pic sorry guys this is the the windows screen pretty naffed up hey and now the WMCE screen, clear as ..... weird hey ... but I no complain
well gluing it back on kinda worked I have heard that IF your really good at soldering you can solder little wires across onto it but sound like too much hard work to me
I'm sure there are some nice extended/extreme versions of X1300 and X1600 that supports more TV-out. Check them out.
because Im trying to keep the price down and I have only just brought the artic cooler ati 2 for it which unfortunately only fits 9600xt or pro
That's pretty impressive that the card still works even with the ram missing, and even more impressive that it WORKED BETTER after glueing the ram back on.............good job and good luck finding a replacement card.
