MMMmmm, Seafood spaghetti. That sounds good I must try to make that someday. ... "hi, this is my first post about food" Welcome to the dinner thread!
Hi guys! Was recently invited to a dinner at Carcosa Seri Negara. "Only" a three course dinner, but man, was it a posh a affair. Here's the menu : - Seafood Combination - Braised Cod Fillet - Dining Room 'Assiette Gourmande' - Coffee & Tea, Petit Fours & Chocolate Yeah, it was supposed to be a four-course meal, I think, but somehow they forgot the third item - Assiette Gourmande (Gourmet Plate???). I wonder what it was supposed to be... More pictures coming up after this one!
Okay, let's start with the starter - Seafood Combination. It comprised of : - Crab charlotte - Shrimps - Potted salmon blinis - Two different condiments (I think they were Thousand Island and Tartar sauces) Okay, I must admit to being a novice at eating such beautiful food. I think I was supposed to put some of the crab charlotte or salmon blinis and condiments onto the two brown round pastries... but I ate them separately.
Then it was time for the main course - Braised Cod Fillet! The cod fillet was enormous! And they served it on a bed of saute spinach with shellfish sauce. There were also small shellfish (clams) in the sauce. It was EXQUISITE!!!
We then finished off with tea / coffee and a plate of Petit Fours & Chocolate. Basically, it consisted of.... - a cup of custard pudding - a spoonful of raspberry (if I'm not wrong!) sherbet - a slice of chocolate cake, topped with a piece of chocolate - a sliced fresh strawberry What a superb dinner! There was also red wine, but as I was a designated driver... I didn't partake any.
My rendition of a chicago style deep dish pizza coming right up.. This is just a pilot test and my second one will be a LOT better. I already have plans for a second one! Next one will have mushrooms and perhaps turkey pepperoni (if I can find it dammit). But this one is real good too. roofles. 1 lb of ground beef, nearly a pound of real mozzarella. All in a small 9 inch baking pan. I don't skimp on anything! LOL! Triple layered too. First layer (from the crust) is mozzarella, beef, sauce, mozzarella, beef, and more mozzarella. MUAHAHAHA! I think I needed more sauce (the bottom mozzarella should 'insulate' the crust preventing it from being soggy - what happens if you use too much sauce). We'll see...
Oh WOW! That cod looks wonderfull... I haven't been to such a nice resteraunt since I worked at one...
Hahaha, That was a long time ago. My first job at a steak and fish restaurant. I was a bus boy... But I got real nice free lunch everyday. God, all the JUMBO shrimps trin got for free...
I can't afford to dine at such fancy restaurants. But I must admit... it was so nice you don't really have to have a SUPER-SIZED portion to be satisfied.
