Nice looking drive might be a bit more than I want to spend on a 300G drive though.

I was just reading about this.. I heard you can fit it into a 3.5" bay also using the heatsink it comes with.

Wow! This drive is something! Better than any other SATA in everyway, except the price!

Yeah, they will need to look into the heat... But eventually, 10K rpm for everyone??? :wicked:

10k rpm, is it faster than sata2?

Why do you want the drive to be faster than SATA2, which is impossible?

It does look nice. I do wonder why they went with 2.5" with 2 platters instead of 3.5" with a single platter. Of course I'm not a hard disk engineer so maybe there's a good reason. I did read they were planning on doing a single platter version of the 2.5" at some point, 150GB is plenty for my boot drive.

10K RPM is the spindle speed. SATA2 is the interface. They are totally different.

150GB is actually quite cheap now, RM600? But I don't think it's worth it, unless you are after the seek time performance.

Yeah but you can buy two 500GB drives for slightly less.

So, yeah, if you are looking for seek performance, but most people will want to look for capacity and a low cost per GB.

Not worth it because VelociRaptor is out. I bought my WD740 because it was the high end back then.
