    Hi!

    I'm looking for a video card to "comfortably" play on a 22" LCD (1680 x 1050)

    Do you think the 4850 will be quite enough for this job, or do I really need a 4870?

    thanks

    4850 should be sufficient. What type of games do you play?

    for 16x10 gaming, 4850 is sufficient. 4870 is kind of stuck in between 16x10 and 19x12. it's too fast at 16x10, and just a wee slow at 19x12.

    go 4850!

    he's talking about screen resolution in which you're playing your games
    16x10 = 1680x1050
    19x12 = 1920x1200

    :D

    gainward is a reputable manufacturer. their products never failed to fascinate me because it's not boring. you get additional stuff like faster clock speed, latest display connectivity and most of the time, beefy cooler.
    Easily one of the most interesting card makers around. but do expect to pay a little bit more.

    unfortunately not :(

    I placed my order on august 6th, while the card was supposed to be on stock on august 12th

    but the availability date got put off to september 1st just a few days later :wall:

    so I canceled my order and purchased the "basic" model instead

    Here i get recently the ATI 4850 ... The one on the driver installation (picture) the same exact one and it's works great the only prob... it's you need to apply the FAN FIX .... because the fan is always running at 5% and you can get 80C in idle... but if you put the fan at 50% you get 42C in idle.... so it's pretty comfortable ;) And with stalker it's unbelivable... no lags. For the price it's an KICK ASS PRODUCT (170$ CAD)
