It "soaks" up the power outputted from the amp before it goes to the speaker. Effectively reduces volume while giving the tone of a cranked tube amp (aka awesomeness). It effectively will save my hearing (so my eardrums don't bleed each time I play in my room). Frequent platform upgrades is usually the reason (over the lifetime of the OS). Plus a good buddy of mine can get them cheap (since I can't quite yet).
Feedback yes. The main reason why I have it is because I want the nice dirty sound (think black sabbath) that involves cranking up the gain. That pretty much destroys my hearing haha! Also when playing cleans (bluesy tones), I don't want my ear drums to bleed.

I went to newegg.com and just bought the one with the highest rating . the blue version is $13 cheaper dont tell my friend that.
