Yeah, I don't see any advantage to run from NAND, so I'm still sticking to SD, which is the only method for dual booting.

Running from NAND is like using it as a proper Android phone. Dual booting is fun!

A lot can change in a year...

If you think RM999 is still too expensive for an Android phone, I guess you should not even consider a smartphone, as it is not a priority to you, considering you can easy afford more than RM999 (=lich). :haha:

I'm still using my old trusty SE C901 ha ha! Went through many phones like iPhone, Android phones, etc but decided to stick to what I'm comfortable with at the moment.

I've been surviving without a data plan too, but just upgraded since my company pays 80% of my phone bill. Currently eyeing the HTC Desire Z :wicked:

I would love to have an android phone, after me and my sibling buying one for my mother.

I've been eyeing the Samsung Galaxy Ace, but I checked everywhere for the USB connection - it seems it's only good for putting in files and taking out files, and firmware update, and not more than that.

Anyone knows whether I could put an external HDD on it? Or a USB keyboard?

Phones are pretty much useless as a USB Host, as devices like portable HDD is taking up too much power. If you would like to store files, just get a big micro SD card like 32GB. If you want a keyboard, you can consider BT keyboard.

Yeah, I wouldn't really attach an external HDD to it. Best to use an SD card. Besides, I don't think you will really need more than 32 GB of capacity that an SDHC card can provide.
