odd crash monitor then sys

    I had a bizarre crash yesterday trying to select a video suddenly my monitor turned black then went into energy saving mode then I was unable to reset using button I had to shut down by turning off power supply I now need to
    see if I am stable I looked in event viewer not a thing

    my temps should be good I have 2x200mm 103cfm front/ top fans
    polaris 120 at full tilt hsm 2454 rpm 84cfm and a rear 120@46cfm

    Might be related codec ?

    Can you recreate the crash?

    I have a friend telling me could be psu I checked reviews and in forums before I got seasonic 520 w oy:wall:

    what is codec?

    It doesn't look like power issue. Probably driver issue. What graphics card are you using?

    Yeah, ATI is proned to have such weird issues sometimes.

    wheres my multimeter

    Hmm...I missed out this portion.

    It is very weird that you can't reset using the reset button. It is not possible, because the reset button is directly connected to the motherboard.

    The function of the PSU is pretty simple. It supplies power. There's only a few occasions that I encounter PSU issue were, the PSU blew up, and my 480W PSU couldn't take it when I try to SLI 2 highend Nvidia.

    If the PSU was still supplying power at that time, I would rule out the PSU. But since this is an isolated case, I won't bother to investigate further. Do take more note when it happens again.

    BTW, if you face this problem again, you don't have to turn off the PSU directly, unless that's convenient. You can also press the power button for 4 seconds or longer. That should power down the PC.
