Is this a usual problem with RX-580

Discussion in 'Graphics Cards & Displays' started by David Pettenati, Jan 13, 2020.

  1. Bought a used RX580 putit in PC and it fried (smoked) instantly, Took it apart and found melted chips. I mean is that even possibel unless somone trired to fix it and did a crap job or took the card apart and somehow physcially cause it to short out? i cannot figure out how to upload apicture but will as soon as i do.

Can this be fixed and is it expensive?

The melted chips are towards the input side of the card to the left of a bunch of larger square-ish things - i know nothing much about GCs but can tell a melted chip when i see one so sorry for the bad description

You may try to fix it, but I don't think it is easy to fix, since it may also burn the traces. I tried doing the same, and realised that more than the component itself was burnt.

  4. Hi David! you need to see a specialist for that problem. Yes, the card is a little bit pricey.
