x264 HD Benchmark 3.0

    The new x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 is here!

    This is the improved version of the x264 HD Benchmark 2.0 benchmark which has become a standard CPU benchmark for Tech ARP as well as many other hardware enthusiasts.

    The new x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 ups the ante by using the latest r1342 x264 encoder as well as other changes under the hood. This makes the x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 the new best tool for testing the full capabilities of modern multi-core processors.

    Do note that due to the changes, the results from x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 are NOT comparable with results from older versions of the benchmark.

    In addition to the release of the benchmark, we will be compiling benchmark results for this new version. So please contribute your new benchmark results to this project! :beer:

    In this update, we made a minor change to the batch script used in the benchmark. It does not affect the results. If you download this latest version, just replace the old files with the new ones.

    We also added a note about disabling Intel Turbo Mode. If you are using an Intel Core i7 or Core i5 processor (or their Xeon brethren), make sure you disable the Intel Turbo Mode in the BIOS for accurate results.

    Finally, we added the benchmark results of 11 processors to the article. Check them out!

    x264 HD Benchmark 3.02

    The new x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 is here!

    This is the improved version of the x264 HD Benchmark 2.0 benchmark which has become a standard CPU benchmark for Tech ARP as well as many other hardware enthusiasts.

    The new x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 ups the ante by using the latest r1342 x264 encoder as well as other changes under the hood. This makes the x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 the new best tool for testing the full capabilities of modern multi-core processors.

    Do note that due to the changes, the results from x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 are NOT comparable with results from older versions of the benchmark.

    In addition to the release of the benchmark, we will be compiling benchmark results for this new version. So please contribute your new benchmark results to this project! :beer:

    In this update, we made another minor change to the batch script used in the benchmark. It does not affect the results. If you download this latest version, just replace the old files with the new ones.

    We also improved the results table by adding the CPU type, in addition to colour-coding standard clock speeds and overclocked processors.

    Finally, we added the benchmark results of the AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition (overclocked to 3.6 GHz), the AMD Athlon X2 BE-2350 and the Intel Atom N270 processors. Check them out!
