how come the prices between both are so close..rm200 ish for a 160gb but only around rm250 to 280 for a 250gb..

wats the catch here? slower performance from 250gb?

Get 320gb, best value per GB.

No catch. The cost of a 250GB hard drive is probably just slightly higher than that of the 160GB.

Most likely they just need to add on an additional platter and read/write heads. The rest of the hard drive costs the same, no matter whether it's a 160GB or 250GB hard drive.

In any case, the drives are priced not only on cost but also on the current market condition, economies of scale, etc.

What on earth do u fellas use such huge amounts of HDD capacity for? I had a 80gb Caviar for 2 years, it wasn't even full yet when I got the Raptor 150. Then I bought a WD250 purely for the purpose of keeping a Ghost image of my Raptor n also as a document back up drive. The 80gb demoted to the 2nd rig for internet surfing duties.

I have a 400GB and it's running out of space, while I'm trying to burn into DVDs as of now!
