ok im getting my 6600GT on friday so i need help. i have found that there is a 128mb version and a 256mb version. They bothe run at 128bit, but the 256mb ram version only has a core speed of 375mhz or something like that, while the 128mb ram version has cor 500mhz SO WHATS BETTER HELP PLZ

of course more memory is better. u can always OC the core speed if u feel lucky. but i think ur refering to the 6800 version which comes with 256mb ram. not sure there are any 256mb ram 6600GT's... correct me if i'm wrong, anyone.

You are wrong, aKho. There are for sure 6600GT models with 256MB. As far as I know, the 256MB has the same clock speeds as the 128MB version (Gigabyte surely does - see model: GV-NX66256D - Core: 500 ; Memory: 1000).

My recommendation, go for the 256MB version, it is surely worth it, and the price difference between the 128MB and 256MB versions shouldn't be more than 15$.

Anyway, GOOD LUCK, and enjoy your new card.

The 6600 has 256 ram and the lower clockspeed, the 6600GT has 128 and the higher clock speed.

Both plain 6600 and GTs come in 128 and 256 MB versions, so Lobster is at least half right, because they're supposed to run at the same speed for respective GPU no matter what size the RAM is.

    Cheers
