    hey guys,

how many of you guys travel around thw world ?

recently i've travelled from Penang, Malaysia to US via Changi Airport (Singapore) & Narita (Japan)

firstly, From Penang to Singapore. No problems at all.

Changi Airport, Singapore to Narita, Tokyo Japan
i'm absolutely disappointed at their services. TSA posted a notice which allows passengers to carry liquid less than 3oz in a plastic container, even Changi airport website stated the same thing.

Upon arrival at the gate for security check. They DID NOT ALLOW. And i have no idea what kind of security check they have until i have a green sticker on my passport cover with some number

I have a portable hard disk which has an ipod theme color. Then after going through the scanner, they thought its an ipod and ask me to turn it on. i told them its a portable hard disk and they still ask me to turn it on. And i have to tell them i need to connect to a PC. At the same time, their security people have to check my Camera & Hardphone too ???? One fella was like ... figuring out to turn on the camera.. i turn it on for him .. then it was in PREVIEW mode... i ended up switching to CAMERA mode for him .. then he was like zooming in zooming out ... ..
even my PHONE also he wanna turn it on  After that i was the one who has to go through some particle test.

WHAT IF SOMEONE RAN OUT OF BATTERY ????

CONCLUSION : CHANGI IS OVER DOING IT! THEIR PROCESS IS DMN SLOW! THEY DONT FOllOW WHAT THEY WRITE ON THEIR WEBSITE ... INEFFICIENT AND ARROGANT.

    Narita, Japan to O'Hare, Chicago
Going to another connecting flight, go though another security scan, they are not so scrict. After going throught the security scan, you can do what you want. but before boarding the plane, they do some quick check and ask if there is any liquid.

CONCLUSION : JAPANESE STAFFS ARE FAR MORE FRIENDLY & POLITE THAN SINGAPOREAN STAFFS.

    O'Hare, Chicago to Boston
Took UNITED flight few days later, they have this Easy CheckIn Which you DIY your check in yourself. there are screens available. but the SYSTEM IS JUST INEFFICIENT AND SLOW!
There are like 20 counters and 4-5 staffs helping to stick the baggage tags for check-in.

One of my baggage was overweight .. ok fine .. thats our fault but to do the process, it was slow as only one person is handling all the "problems" ...

My Sis was doing the checkin, but there were someone behind the counter changing ot doing some repair. So in the end my sis's baggage tag was not printed! You cant reprint it yourself and have to go to "The One" and only person who can do it for us. it took her quite sometime as there were another problematic couplee in front of her. They should have closed the counter if they were repairing or something like that! :wall:

Airport Security is slightly tighter than Japan but not as strict as the one in Changi. Staff is not as polite as those in Japan but they are still much more friendly than those in Singapore!

    Boston to Los Angeles
UNITED flight again so we used the Easy Check In again ... guess what ? the baggage tags were not printed again :wall:
we were standing there like for no reason for quite sometime until we had to ask one of the staff who walks behind the counter sticking tags. :wall: the same as in Chicago, around 4-5 staffs sticking baggae tags for like 20 or more counters :wall:

CONCLUSION : Easy Check In = Difficult Check In if soething goes wrong!

    Los Angeles to Narita, Japan
so far no problem other than flight delayed 2 hours due to technical problems.

    Narita, Japan to Changi
go onto a different flight as we missed our connecting flight due to the delay.

    Changi to Penang
    no problem

so ... for those of you who are taking planes to US from Changi, BE PREPARED TO ENCOUNTER SECURITY STAFFS WHO ARE NOT FRIENDLY AND OVER DOING IT.

I REPEAT .. I DO NOT HAVE ANY SECURITY ISSUES WITH THE US AIRPORTS OR JAPAN AIRPORTS .. I DO NOT NEED TO TURN ON MY CAMERA & PHONE FOR THEM. THEY DO NOT QUESTION ME BOUT MY PORTABLE HARD DISK.

Actually, for those stuff, including (especially) tripod, what you normally do is, if they don't allow it, hand it over to the cabin crew to keep, then take back from cabin crew when you disembark.

80-200 is alright lar.. its not that long when packed up.

Welcome to the USA. Security is tight to get here. It's still better then the UK where they won't allow electronics on board. lol. At least we allowed some liquids as well as electronics. :p

Welcome to Singapore, We are Kiasu & Kiasi People. .. Thats WHy Our Security Must be more tight than Japan & USA .. :wall:

It's not that...Singaporeans are generally just very "by the book" people...everything must follow strict rules, no exceptions.

Yea, coz if they don't do it properly, they're gonna get it from the TSA... :\

    It's serious here. lol.

They arent even doing it properly in the first place to begin with...

They didnt even allow liquids/gel at all that are below 3oz which are allowed in other airports. But their Changi Website stated that TSA allows 3oz & below ...

And Friendlyness & Politeness ... totally out of the quesiton .. Worst that Japan & US ...

& Turning on your Camera / Phone is not enough for Singapore too ... they have to "play" with them .. yea rite ... their Security Scanner must be crappy or something. In Japan & US .. i dont even have to turn on my camera/phone :wall:

Definitely the slowest security scan compared to other airports :wall:

    "It's serious here."

.....That's the thing. To me it seems me that the whole world takes the "security thing" wayyyyyyy too seriously.... ever since 911. The way the media and the gov. are here in the US. You would think that planes were flying into bulidings evey few hours!!!:faint:

    It's like this...:!:

How many people get killed in car accidents EVERYDAY???

How come we don't hear about that 24/7 on the news???

Taking that in mind... Why is the usa 'not' at "war" with sub-compact car makers???

I could go on and on...

never had any problem with changi. in fact I've just got back from a 3-day trip. as usual, everything was smooth. regarding the gadget issue i guess it's all on luck. some officers can be quite anal. never had any problem though.

Im fine with the airports, but i farking hate the KLIA taxi services. they are rude, and the way they drive..fuu..
Almost got into an accident just now. the taxi almost hit the divider. bloody hell!

Hehe.. They will probably think it's a real bazooka or something. :D

Probably ask you to fire a few shots just to be sure it isn't hiding a gun or something inside. :D

Yeah, that's very unfortunate... Gone are the days when people can request to visit the pilot upfront to have a glimpse of what it is to fly one of these beauties.

Now, to even request it will probably get you handcuffed by an air marshal! :D

I hope we will one day be able to request a visit to the flight deck without fear or prejudice...

Sigh.. Unfortunately, fear of terrorism is dominant right now. Can't say I blame them. But in a way, terrorists have won this fight. They have already caused our governments to curb civil liberties and our freedom.

Although terrorism is to be blamed for the strict rules, I still think that the rules are of the "overdoing it" kind.

The Rude Changi Airport's Immigration officers

Most of the Singapore's Changi Airport Immigration Officers have attitude problems. They used to give unnecessary troubles to China and Malaysia passport holders. They praise American white and bully chinese (from China, Hongkong, Malaysia for example.

I was in queue to board the flight which will head to Kansai Osaka, Japan. and the destination was Toronto, Canada. As "Expected", while holding a Malaysian passport, I was asked with some stupid questions by a chinese immigration officer before the gate. He said "Why you go to Canada?" in Singlish. (he didn't check with other people, but me coz I was holding a Malaysian passport). I said:"I am studying there and I'm a Permanent Resident of Canada", then he suspected and wanted me to show proof. Then I showed him the "PR card", but he still wasn't convinced. He was a bit frustrated. He passed my PR card to his colleague and asked him to record down my PR card number. I was wondering what he is going to do with my PR card number.. Hahaha. Such a silly immigration officer.

Singaporeans are Kiasu, it is true. because it is competative in Sg. But please la, let more of those little frogs coming out to see the world, don't always stay inside little Singapore. There are still many things they need to learn. Give me a break!

In addition, Singaporeans, you never be proud of being able to speak Singlish. There are thousands of millions of Chinese speaking great English in American accent or pure British slang in USA and Canada. so please, don't show off your Singlish at Changi or any other corners in the world. because (Singlish is not equal to English)

    Thank you.

An oversea Malaysian Chinese in Toronto.

i got to agree with you, We Malaysians in Changi Airport are looked down by them.

even before i enter for security screening, they even recorded our passport number & we have STICKERS on our passport.

Best Airport in the world, but Worst Airport Staff Attitude in the world too. To me, they dont deserve 5 Star Ratings.
