ASUS is a relatively new ATI board partner. They only hopped onto the ATI bandwagon with the debut of the ASUS Radeon 9800 Pro range of cards. Despite their late entry into the ATI graphics card market, ASUS' motherboard manufacturing expertise has stood them in good stead. Their graphics card line is as impressive as their motherboards. With the release of the new ATI R420 GPU, it's only natural for ASUS to release their new Radeon X800 Pro and X800 XT graphics cards. In this review, Chai is going to take a look at the AGP version of the ASUS AX800 X800 Pro graphics card. Let's see if it is as good as they say it is! Does it really matter who you get your card from? Like is an ATi branded one better than an ASUS one or are they all the same?
Well, I did read it .. and still I'll go for my new AX800XT PE on Saturday. PS: Someone interested in a RX9800pro @ XT with VGASilencer?
IMHO, it's surprising to see that ASUS didn't bother to distinguish their card from the competition. The AX800Pro is more or less the same as any other X800 Pro cards.
9500 was my first ATI card and I was really impressed. After testing both x800 and 6800GT, my choice would be 6800GT, no contest.
6800GT is just slightly slower than 6800 Ultra, which is very close to X800 XT. I'm not sure if you can find XT PE in the market easily.
both the Ultra and PE are running out of stock.. check out tomshardware's report on the sale of both cards.. nvidia and ATI said it's because of the high demand of both cards. it will take some time before new one comes..
Thats why I bought mine and I'm very happy with it! The X800Pro is a good card, but between the two, its 6800GT hands down. 12 pipelines is no match for 16. On the flipside, ATI's Temporal AA is good, but NVIDIA has something simillar thats been implemented. BTW, great review Chai!
hey .. this ax800 is sample from asus ? i dont trust asus with reviews i read reviews of a9600xt ... they came with DDR700 RAMs .. retail versions only came with DDR600
Yup, the samples are ASUS retail, that's why you see all the boxes, manuals and cables. I've just reread the review and saw a few minor errors and typos. I will get it fixed ASAP.
