XP90C .. some might dissagree becayse you can put a bigger fan on the XP120 but, actual tests lean toward the XP90C as being beter.
okay. Roughly how much is it? I'm thinking it should be way cheaper than the XP120 yes? So i'm saving a few more dosh. Yay! My new rig coming out real spiffy.
LOL! Very true. I would choose XP120 if there's A LOT of space around the motherboard. Most AMD motherboards don't have that much room around the socket...
Doesn't do too good... well maybe for him it might. But for me, mine had temps ranging 46c-50c and load at 55c-60c I even lapped the heatsink and even reset it multiple times. then I got an XP90 and my temps now range somewhere around 28c-32c and on load, 33c-36c (all depending on the temp in the house)
Was that because you were overclocking? I've said this before somewhere else...AMD (and Intel) wouldn't provide you with the stock cooler if it wasn't sufficient for their CPUs under normal circumstances.
I heard some good thing about Thermaltakes Big Typhoon. http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/4in1heatpipe/cl-p0114bigtyphoon/cl-p0114.htm Here is a pic showing the size difference between it and the XP-90 http://www.3dxtreme.net/index.php?id=ttbigtyphoon3
I didn't exactly read all three pages, I admit. But I told my mom "I want RM4K for my PC. This are my specs mom" -AMD64 3000+ Venice (Cheaper than Winnie 3200, yet still clocks average 2800MHz on air) -DFI Lanparty Nforce4 Ultra-D (Great overclocker) -Kingston Value 512MBx2 PC3200 (BT-D43) (Not hi-perf RAM, but does very well for it's price) -Chaintech 6600GT PCI-E (Awesome reviews) -Seagate NCQ 160GB 7200RPM (Good price-storage ratio) -LG-Hitachi 16X dvd+-RW (Good USER reviews) -Chaintech AV-710 sound card (i'm more of a musician) -Philips 107S flatscreen monitor (Cheap, philips I've always used. Samsung hater me) -Coolermaster 480 watts 24pin PSU (Duh......DFI recommended) -Coolermaster Centurion 5 casing (Looks nice) -XP90C (Cools better than XP-120. Smaller, easier to fit) in total, it only cost me RM3900 for I took a few second hand parts and bought from bulk orders.0
This is what i'm looking at so far, AMD 64 3500+ RM1100 -> maybe a 3000+ instead? still debating.. Abit AN8 RM580 512 MB Corsair VS CL2.5 x2 RM410 -> Kingston second choice Leadtek Winfast PCIe 6600GT RM780 Antec truepower 480W RM350 Antec Super Lanboy Aluminium Casing RM380 -> not much fuss about casings 200Gb Seagate Barracuda RM380 -> probably change this for an 80Gb instead CPU cooler Thermalright XP90C RM120 i'm no overclocker, but my room is super hot having this rig run 24/7 i bet. so i guess the XP90C would be safer than the standard cooler?
for soundcard, can't go wrong with SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS in terms of cost and performance yeh? but i'm happy with the built-in audio on muh mobo. can't play too loud the music as parents will definitely get upset anyways.
thelmatake silent tower with UFO ADD ON fans sure rox u and around 250Rm below. with silent and good well artic cooler... about sound card expensive is the best
so aKHo, what its gonna be.. when will your new rig arrive.. are you planning to assemble it yourself? expensive not always the best.. seek for higher SNR ratio soundcard preferably 90dB and above
comment on soundcard..if u playing alot games u should get audigyzs instead..the chaintech is only good for music.. xp90c not so cheap..its retail for 240 bucks at robyncom
i've sent in my specs to a local dealer, waiting for a quotation. prolly will set it up myself. if there is no further suggestions, i'll be going with :- AMD 64 3500+ or 3000+ Abit AN8 RM580 512 MB Corsair VS CL2.5 x2 or Kingston as second choice Leadtek Winfast PCIe 6600GT RM780 Antec truepower 480W RM350 Antec Super Lanboy Aluminium Casing RM380 80Gb Seagate Barracuda or 200GB CPU cooler Thermalright XP90C now i'm just waiting to see if i could knock off RM780 for the 6600GT in 2 weeks time. keeping my fingers n toes cross.
