Can I use Bios to de-power my 2 ide slave drives?

My boot drive is a 1 Tb sata drive.

I recently added on an old 3.5" 40gb ide drive and an old 30gb 2.5" ide notebook drive. Both internally.

As I will rarely use these drives (and they are kind of noisy) I was wondering if I could use my Bios settings to have them (as a default) not boot up.

My motherboard is a Biostar A780LC3 (American Megatrends).

I hope this is enough info. Other suggestions to do this are welcome. The system is Win 8-64 bit.

    Thanks

    Brian

If there's a toggle for the IDE controller to be enabled/disabled, you can disable the IDE controller to prevent them from being accessible. However, they will still spin up. You just cannot access them because the IDE controller is disabled.

If you rarely use them, why not take them out and use a HDD dock to access them whenever you want to?
