the HardOCP article said that on low details u can even run doom 3 on a pentium III with Geforce 3 Ti500. So i think u should be fine. Only thing is u'll miss out on all the cool visual effects
If you read from that article, even at medium quality, you can get all the visual effects, but compressed, which is not too bad at all.
I have seen a screenshot on a GeForce4-Ti-4200 at 'playable' level... Medium quality, 800x600 The jaggies are quite apparent due to the low resolution plus no AA/AF. You can still get a 9700Pro? Anyway, 9700Pro is still a good card 9700Pro should be able to handle all the eye candies after overclocking
Yes, you can still get a 9700 Pro thru some bulk order at lowyat.net... You should be able to play higher than medium settings with that card... But I won't bet on very high quality unless you turn off all those AA/AF stuffs.
Actually you do not lose any visual effects using Medium Quality. Other than the slight visual artifacts you may see, you should get see all the effects. Well, provided that if you have a DX9 card.
