For those Firefox web browser users who're facing high memory utilization by the application itself, apparently it has been clarified that it's not a memory leak issue but rather an implemented "feature". The good news is, the feature can be tweaked to your preference or simply turned off, hopefully. Slasdot: Memory Leak Is A Feature?!?! Firefox: High Memory Consumption What To Do?
Open Firefox and type "about:config" in the address bar then locate browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers.
I find it funny that people here would actually want to lower the memory usage since it's not a leak. Don't most people here have 1GB RAM? If not, I know most have 512MB. (Unless one is running a laptop, then is questionable.)
The funny thing is, although I have 768MB worth of memory notwithstanding the page file, my browser crawls when it hits 100MB and above and there would be alot of disk write activities.
I have 1GB of memory in my laptop but even that's really not enough to waste a 100MB of memory on a browser. That's because I don't just have the web browser loaded. At the very minimum, I have 4-5 other applications running at the same time. I need 2GB.
LMAO. don't every one needs 2GB of RAM nowadays? I've already felt the need for 2GB on my laptop a long long time ago.
Don't bluff. You can afford THREE condos at the same time!!!! Seriously, go for 2GB la... Lead the way!!!!
lead the way .. hmmm to upgrade to 2GB i would need ~RM300 and scouting around again .. nah .. let this 1.5gb last me until i leave for the states .. then maybe i get 2gb for my laptop
