HOSTS File Editor | dev.zynine
I don't get it. Why do you need a HOSTS file editor?
Yeah, it's editable in notepad.
so you don't need to go all the way to system32/driver/etc
Seriously ZY, you've way TOO MUCH time.
Err... you can create a shortcut anywhere on your desktop, start menu, etc. and just point it to "C:\Windows\notepad.exe C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" right?
In Vista and 7, need administrator's right?
I think you need admin right to write to it (though I can open it just fine).
I made the program to run as administrator. not sure if it really works that way since both my win7 are uac disabled.
Yeah... just right-click the shortcut and run as admin lo. Or can cincai find an adminlauncher or something and put it inside the shortcut, then you save a click, no need to right-click.
Eh, same also... with adminlauncher, you doubleclick (2 clicks) and click Yes (1 click). Whereas with run as admin, you right-click (1 click), click Run as Admin (1 click) and then click Yes (1 click). Both ways also 3 clicks total. LOL!
So this is why you need HOSTS file editor!
I've used hostsman before it was pretty good if you need more than notepad.
